Westport Assessor's Office Reminds Veterans To File Exemption Forms WESTPORT, Conn. – The Westport assessor’s office reminds all veterans, or widows and widowers of veterans, who have served during an active period of war for at least 90 days and have received an honorable discharge, to file their DD-214 in the town clerk’s office prior to Oct. 1. The exemption is $6,000 off an assessment and will be reflected in the July 2016 tax bill. Veterans who have already filed and are receiving an exemption do not need to re-file. Two Men Arrested For Stolen Money, Handgun In Hopewell Junction EAST FISHKILL, N.Y. – Two men were arrested Thursday in Hopewell Junction for allegedly stealing nearly $2,300 in cash and a gun from clients who used an out-of-state moving company, according to the East Fishkill Police Department. Shamarr Soto, 19, of Prospect Park, New Jersey, and Nosakhare Imarhia, 31, of Newark, New Jersey, were charged with two counts of criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, and criminal possession of a firearm, all felonies, according to police.
