Youth Voices Center Brings Program To Peekskill High
PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – During this school year, Founder and Executive Director of Youth Voices Center Inc. Michael Arterberry will facilitate 27 "Power of Peace" workshops at Peekskill High School to address leadership skills, conflict resolution, teamwork, diversity, understanding and decision making.

Toni Kruy, 53, Of Norwalk
NORWALK, Conn. – Toni Catherine Kruy, 53, of Norwalk, died Saturday, Sept. 19 in Norwalk Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born Oct. 21, 1961, in Stamford, the daughter of the late Stephen and Filomena “Fanny” Parenti Kruy. She moved to Norwalk at a young age and had been a resident ever since.
She is survived by the love of her life, Robert Lawrence of Norwalk, who she made a home with that included her two dogs; two brothers, Peter Kruy of Plainville, and Stephen Kruy Jr. of Maui, Hawaii; and many nieces and nephews.

John R. Serknis, 86, Of Fairfield
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – John R. Serknis, 86, of Fairfield, died Sunday, Sept. 20.
Serknis was born in Bridgeport and was a lifelong area resident. He was a retired police officer for the Town of Fairfield. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the Germania Schwaben Club. He was an avid golfer and a former ranger at Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course.

He is survived by his children, Raymond Serknis of Fairfield; Kimberly Stevens and her husband, Nick, of Stratford, Conn.; and two grandsons.

Marie M. Stefano Herdt, 93, Of Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Marie M. Stefano Herdt, 93, of Bridgeport, wife of the late Arthur Herdt, died Sunday, Sept. 20 at Lord Chamberlain in Stratford.
Born Dec. 2, 1922, in Dickson City, Pa. she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Angela Gogolski Stefano. Before her retirement, she was a waitress for more than 35 years at the Bridgeport Flyer Diner until it closed.
Survivors include her son, Terrence Smith, and his wife, Lynn, of Stratford; three grandchildren; a niece and her husband; and a nephew.
She was predeceased by a son, Gregory Smith, and eight brothers and sisters.

Leticia Roman, 52, Of Stamford
STAMFORD, Conn. – Leticia Roman, 52, of Stamford, died Tuesday, Sept. 8.
She was the mother of three children, Max Cisneros, Kimberly Lopez and Nai Perez. She was the sister of three brothers; and daughter of Carmen Arroyo.
Funeral services in celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m. at St. Benedict-Our Lady of Montserrat Parish, 1 St. Benedict Circle, Stamford.
June Odette King, 91, Of Norwalk
NORWALK, Conn. – June Odette King, 91, of Norwalk, wife of the late Burton Osborne King, died Monday, Sept. 21.
She was born July 30, 1924, in New York, the daughter of the late William Holmes Christian Ulrich and Mollie (Motto) Ulrich. She was an alumna of Northfield School and graduated from Rutgers University.
She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church on the Green, and was a Betas member most of that time. For 28 years, she volunteered with the AARP Tax Counseling for the Elderly program.
