Hudson Valley Product Tyler Lydon Big Part Of Syracuse's Sweet 16 Run
PINE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Stissing Mountain High School graduate Tyler Lydon and his teammates at Syracuse University have journeyed to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. The 10th-seeded Syracuse defeated Middle Tennessee 75-50 on Sunday to move on to March Madness' Sweet 16 after beating seventh-seeded Dayton in the first round. Dayton had defeated Syracuse in its previous NCAA Tournament game, in 2014. Lydon scored 14 points, seven rebounds and six blocks in the match against Middle Tennessee. Westport Police Charge Bridgeport Resident With Shoplifting At Goodwill
WESTPORT, Conn. -- A Bridgeport resident was arrested on charges of shoplifting at a Goodwill store in Westport, police said. Charmaine Pottinger, 53, was charged with fifth-degree larceny and fifth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, police said. Store security watched employee Shirley Mae Jennings intentionally not scanning items while accomplice Pottinger was checking out, police said. Pottinger was arrested on an active warrant and has a court date in Norwalk on March 28, police said.

Fishkill Farms Hosting Easter Eggstravaganza
HOPEWELL JUNCTION, N.Y. -- Fishkill Farms will hold their annual spring Egg-Stravaganza and Easter Celebration on March 26. Activities include a visit with the Easter Bunny at the "Rabbit Hole," a hayride, nature knowledge trail, spring seeding workshop and grass-fed burgers and hot dogs with cider, hot chocolate and cider donuts. General admission for the Easter celebration activities is $5 per person. Tickets for the Orchard Egg Hunt are sold out. Historical Society Of Rockland County To Screen Brick Making Film
NEW CITY, N.Y. -- The Historical Society of Rockland County will screen "Hudson River Brick Makers" with filmmaker Jim Ormond on April 21. The 30-minute film demonstrates how the Hudson River Valley was the world's leader in brick making in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, using film footage, historic photos and interviews. MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- Mount Kisco will host two egg hunts this weekend at Leonard Park The Flashlight Egg Hunt for grades 3 through 5 takes place on March 27 at 7:30 p.m. The rain date is March 28 at 10 a.m. A Junior Egg Hunt for kids in grades 2 and below will be held March 28 at 10 a.m. The rain date is March 29 at noon. Participants should bring a working flashlight and a basket or bag for egg collection. Both hunts are free and take place in Leonard Park's Memorial Pool Parking lot.

Ohio Students Volunteer At Habitat For Humanity
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Students from William V. Fisher Catholic High School in Lancaster, Ohio came to New York to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. The members of Fisher Catholic's Interact, a Rotary-sponsored service club, visited for the fifth year in a row to paint a church in Mount Vernon, a shelter in New Rochelle and work on veteran homes in Yonkers.

Irvington Middle School 7th Graders Showcasing PSAs At Film Festival
IRVINGTON, N.Y. -- Irvington Middle School seventh-graders will present their final video projects at a film festival on March 23. The seventh-graders studying the art of visual text and persuasive argument in Kelly Kozak’s, Caroline Lehoczky’s, Allicia Rios’ and Thomas Sandler’s English language arts classes created public service announcements. The videos tackle issues such as bullying, drug abuse, peer pressure, body image, technology addiction, stereotyping, nutrition and pollution.
