Thomas Cunningham Appointed Croton-Harmon's New Athletic Director
CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Thomas Cunningham has been named Croton-Harmon School District’s new director of physical education, health, athletics and wellness during its July 21 meeting.
Cunningham joins Croton-Harmon from the Haldane Central School District, where he served as director of health, physical education and athletics, as well as dean of students, since 2010. Self Defense Classes For Bullying Held At Yorktown Elks Lodge
YORKTOWN, N.Y. – Davide Gristina of Krav Maga New York continues to offer free lessons on how to defend against bullying every Monday from 7-8 p.m. through Aug. 10 at Yorktown Elks Lodge, 540 Waverly Road, Yorktown Heights.
The free lessons are sponsored by Yorktown Against Heroin, Yorktown Elks Lodge, Yorktown Youth Soccer Club and Krav Maga New York. Gristina, who teaches martial arts in his Somers, New York, studio, also stresses life qualities such as modesty, self-respect and self-confidence.

Born Myrtle Ruby Nolen March 29, 1933, in North Carolina, she grew up in Bassett, Virginia. She was one of four children. All four siblings, as well as her mother and father, were musically gifted and she adored singing in the church choir. She toured the country as a singer and comedian and as one-half of the comedy team "Lou Black and Priscilla Nolen."

SOUTHPORT, Conn. – Elinor A. Heck, 89, of Southport, died Thursday, July 16.
She was born Nov. 10, 1925. She will be remembered by all for her devotion to her family, her selfless contributions to helping others, her inner strength and poise, her love of people, her zest for life and parties, her laughter and wit.

A resident of Westport for over 33 years, he was a successful businessman and a distinguished Vietnam veteran. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved to play golf and watch sports.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Audrone; daughter Jennifer (Ajay); son James (Traci); son Brian (Courtney); daughter Kristin (Phillip); and son Mark; seven grandchildren; two brothers; a stepson; and a grand-stepson.
