Yolanda Patston (Patalano), 78, Of Norwalk
NORWALK, Conn. – Yolanda Patston (née Patalano), 78, of Norwalk, died Saturday, Aug. 1 at Norwalk Hospital.
She was born in Norwalk and was a town resident for the last 40 years. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy of Stamford, Connecticut, and Merrill’s Business College, where she studied business administration. Yolanda will be remembered for her fortitude, sense of humor, devotion to those in need, and her love of the Yankees and animals.
She is survived by her son, Dale Patston (Dawn) of Norwalk; a brother of Brookfield, Connecticut; and four nieces and nephews.

NORWALK, Conn. – Frankie L. Shimko, 78, of Norwalk, died Saturday, Aug. 1.
Born in Phoenix, she was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in Stamford, Connecticut. She worked in numerous clerical positions until her retirement 16 years ago.
She is survived by her mother, Margaret A. Suddarth; husband, Steven Shimko; son, Steven M. Shimko; a sister; a niece; and extended family, aunts, cousins and in-laws.

WESTON, Conn. – Mildred Piazza, 97, of Weston, the wife of the late Dr. Louis R. Piazza, died Sunday, Aug. 2.
She was born in Passaic, New Jersey, to the late Alfonse and Rosina Battiste.
She is survived by her daughters, Patrice Kopas (Kenneth) and Carina Silvestri (John), all of Weston; five grandchildren; and a sister-in-law of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Brewster Man Sentenced To 25 Years For Rape, Assault
CARMEL, N.Y. – A Brewster man was sentenced to 25 years in prison, 20 years of post-release supervision and criminal sex offender registration Wednesday following his conviction for the rape and assault of a woman in 2013, according to the Putnam County District Attorney’s Office.
Victor Cruz Garcia, 43, was convicted of rape in the first degree, criminal sexual act in the first degree, both B violent felonies, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, following a two week-long trial which ended with his conviction March 13, 2015.
