Larchmont Native Amanda Tuck Coaches Israeli World Cup Lacrosse
LARCHMONT, N.Y. – Amanda Tuck, a native of Larchmont and former Marist College women’s lacrosse midfielder, is promoting the sports overseas as an assistant coach for Israel’s first U-19 women’s lacrosse team. The team competed in the 2015 Federation of International Lacrosse Rathbone’s Women’s U-19 World Cup, which was held July 23 through Aug. 1 at University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Man Charged With Multiple Traffic Infractions On Route 202
PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – A Peekskill man was charged with multiple traffic violations Friday night in Yorktown, according to the Yorktown Police Department. Eric Rodriguez, 36, was stopped at about 3:15 a.m. on Crompond Road for allegedly speeding. He was charged with driving with a suspended registration and driver’s license, and speeding. He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court Sept. 1.

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Former Monroe College standout Maurice Ndour signed a three-year deal with the NBA's Dallas Mavericks Thursday, according to Monroe College. Ndour, who was born and raised in Senegal, played high school basketball in Japan, played at Monroe College for two years, completed his college career at Ohio, and played in the NBA Summer League with the Knicks before being signed by Dallas. PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. – Putnam beaches have closed recently due to blue-green algae blooms, which contain toxic cyanobacteria. These microscopic organisms are naturally present in lakes and streams, but sometimes undergo rapid growth with high amounts of sunlight and increased levels of nitrogen and phosphorus, which can result from leaking septic systems, fertilizer and storm water run-off. White Plains Man Charged With Unlawfully Collecting Unemployment
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A White Plains man was arrested Friday for unlawfully collecting over $9,800 of unemployment benefits while he was employed, according to New York State Police. Federico Shephard, 48 collected the benefits between Feb. 6, 2012 and July 8, 2012. The arrest stemmed from a complaint received from the New York State Department of Labor Special Investigation Division. He was charged with offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree, a class E felony. Shephard was issued an appearance ticket directing him to appear in the City of White Plains Court Aug. 17. …

Film, TV Productions Add $18M To Westchester's Economy
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. –The film and television industry boosted the Westchester economy by $18 million in 2014, up from $13.8 million in 2013, mostly due to 32 percent increase in on-location production days.
