Verplanck Man Faces Driving With Ability Impaired By Drugs Charges CORTLANDT, N.Y. – A Verplanck man was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs Thursday, according to New York State Police. Edward M. Vantassel, 23, was found unresponsive inside his car by EMS and state troopers. Troopers entered the vehicle after several attempts to communicate with Vantassel were unsuccessful, and subsequent investigation revealed that Vantassel was under the influence of drugs.    Vantassel was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear before the Town of Cortlandt Court Monday, Aug. 17.

Missing Buchanan Man Located With Public's Help CORTLANDT, N.Y. – A missing Buchanan man was located at a local hospital thanks to the public’s assistance, according to the New York State Police. Vincent Troncone, 51, went missing on Wednesday at around 1 p.m. around Madeline Avenue and Sixth Street in Verplanck.The state police were told of Troncone’s disappearance at around 10 a.m. on Thursday and began an investigation. A tip provided to New York State Police on Facebook led to Troncone’s location at the hospital.

After more than 10 years and a half a million dollars collected in a show of community support, deposits will be given back as it remains unclear if the facility, which would include an indoor pool, fitness center, sauna and multipurpose room, will ever be built, according to the report.
