Putnam Could See Heat Wave Starting Saturday PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. – Putnam County will likely see a heat wave – three straight days of 90-degree temperatures or higher – come into the area starting Saturday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high near 89. There is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Saturday night will see a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m. Low around 67. Sunday will be sunny with a high near 88, and a low around 69. Monday will be sunny and hot, with a high near 91 and a low around 70.

Westchester's Sandra Lee Gives Thumbs Up After Surgery NEW CASTLE, N.Y. – New Castle’s Sandra Lee left the hospital Wednesday, just one day after undergoing surgery due to complications from her double mastectomy, reports People. Lee, 48, underwent surgery Tuesday after being hospitalized last week for an infection. Lee was diagnosed with breast cancer in March and had the double mastectomy in May. Man Stopped On Route 9 Faces Second Drug Charge Of Week WAPPINGER, N.Y. – An East Fishkill man faces two separate charges for drug possession in one week, according to New York State Police. Larry J. Hoffman, 23, was stopped Sunday on Route 9 in the Town of Wappinger for an inadequate exhaust when police found that Hoffman possessed approximately 26.6 grams of marijuana and a controlled substance. He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and criminal possession of marihuana in the fifth degree. Putnam Sheriff Seeks Woman Wanted On Charges CARMEL, N.Y. – The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a woman who is wanted on a bench warrant to answer to two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Christina E. Padian, 35, is 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and weighs 160 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Her last known location is Carmel. Jennifer A. Fava Appointed New Director Of Westport Parks And Recreation WESTPORT, Conn. – Jennifer A. Fava has been appointed the new parks and recreation director for the Town of Westport. Fava will assume her duties starting Sept. 1. She replaces former parks and recreation director Stuart McCarthy, who retired June 1. Southeast's Tilly Foster Farm Receives Additional $1.5M For Repairs SOUTHEAST, N.Y. – Putnam County lawmakers approved a $1.5 million bond for Tilly Foster Farm repairs Aug. 4, reports the Examiner. The county has spent $475,000 from New York City awarded money, and approximately $150,000 of a $300,000 bond for other repairs and updates after the lease with Preserve Putnam and the county ended last year, according to the report. Pitbull Bites Woman In Dispute Over Money In New Canaan NEW CANAAN, Conn. – A woman’s pitbull bit another woman during an argument over money Friday night, reports New Canaan News. The pitbull’s owner, Heidi Lueders, 28, was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct; Melanie Numa, 19, was charged with disorderly conduct after fighting with the 22-year-old victim about $100, according to the report. Suspension Ends For Brian Williams, MSNBC Debut Coming Soon WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – Former NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams’ suspension is now over, reports CNN.
