Edward Bennet Reith, Of Westport
WESTPORT, Conn. – Edward Bennet Reith, of Westport, died Friday, Aug. 7.
Born in Manhattan, he eloped with Tempe, the love of his life, March 2, 1957. She predeceased him in 2013.
He worked for over 30 years as an electrical engineer, moving from one interesting assignment to another after graduating from Columbia University, School of Engineering. In 1991, he became the proprietor of Brooklawn Discount Liquors and worked retail until his quasi-retirement at 78. When he was 38, he had the first of three bypass heart surgeries as well as a number of angioplasties later in life.

STAMFORD, Conn. – George F. Vredenburgh, Jr., 81, of Stamford, died Saturday, Aug. 15 at Masonic Health Care.
Born May 15, 1934, in Stamford, he was the son of the late George and Mary Sherwood Vredenburgh. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Korean War. He was a former employee of Perkin Elmer & Branson Instruments as a welder. He also greatly enjoyed tinkering.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Barnum.

Ione K. Myers, 103, Formerly Of Bridgeport
NORTH HAVEN, Conn. – Ione K. Myers, 103, of North Haven, and formerly of Bridgeport, Connecticut, died Thursday, Aug. 13.
She was the wife of the late Charles B.J. Myers.
Born in Portland, Oregon, April 25, 1912, Myers had been employed by the City of Bridgeport where she worked as a crossing guard before her retirement with over 60 years of dedicated service. She later worked as a teacher's assistant. She was very active in the Bridgeport Democratic Party and was very proud to have been the founder of the Marion Award, which is given to Girl Scouts.
