Lucy Castaldo, 97, Of Hawthorne HAWTHORNE, N.Y. – Lucy Castaldo 97, of Hawthorne, died Monday, Sept. 7. She was born July 1, 1918, to the Raphael and Nancy (DeFabio) Mastromonaco in Compobasso, Italy. She is survived by three sons, Ronald R. (Barbara) Roberto of Congers, New York; Ralph R. Roberto and Daniel A. Roberto, both of Hawthorne; one brother of White Plains; one sister of Congers, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Born in Puerto Rico in 1933, she lived there until she turned 25, then came to New York.  She married Victor M. Aviles in 1958, and they were together for 23 years until he died in 1981. She is survived by her seven children and their families, Elba Aviles-Jimenez, Victor Aviles Jr., Yolanda Vazquez, Lisa Aviles, Blanca Aviles-Soler, Robert Aviles and Jessie Aviles-Rodriguez; their spouses; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandsons; and seven siblings. Yorktown Woman Accused Of Violating An Order Of Protection YORKTOWN, N.Y. – A Yorktown woman was arrested recently after she was accused of violating a temporary order of protection, according to the Yorktown Police Department. Carol Renzi, 76, was arrested on Aug. 27, after an investigation into a past occurrence found that she had violated a temporary order of protection by being at a residence at 240 Underhill Ave., Apt. 3. She was charged with criminal contempt in the second degree, officials said.

Number Of EMS Volunteers Declining In Wallington WALLINGTON, N.J. – Dwindling numbers of EMS volunteers are making it difficult to provide emergency services during the day, borough officials told Community News. An increase in the hours needed for training and certification has created the dropoff, Councilman Mark Tomko told Community News. Training requirements can range from 160 hours to more than 250, depending on the type of program or county, according to the EMS Council of New Jersey, Community News reports.
