Volunteers Needed For Emergency Preparedness Drill In Westchester WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The Westchester County Health Department is seeking several hundred volunteers to participate in an emergency preparedness drill Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Westchester County Center. People of all ages, including parents with young children and people with disabilities, college students and faculty, community groups, seniors, members of faith-based communities, businesses and the public are encouraged to register in advance. New Rochelle Lions Club Collecting Eyeglasses NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The New Rochelle Lions Club will collect used eyeglasses during the day Thursdayat the Habitat Restore before its 7 p.m. meeting. As part of the Lions Recycle for Sight program, Lions and other volunteers collect used eyeglasses and deliver them to regional Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centers (LERCs) to clean, sort and package the glasses to be delivered to those in need. The Habitat Restore is at 659 Main St., New Rochelle.

The race is to honor the memory of Dr. Art Figur, athlete, adventurer and teacher. The police have been sending out Citizen Alerts on this scam for the last few years, and also created a flier last year with Mayor Mike Spano's office to help educate the public about this scam and others like it. Max Cacopardo, 26, Of Ossining OSSINING, N.Y. – Max Cacopardo, 26, of Ossining, died suddenly Monday, Sept. 7. He was born May 12, 1989, in Sleepy Hollow, to Sal and Joanne (Nickerson) Cacopardo. He co-owned S&J Services, Inc. Heating & Air Conditioning in Ossining. He is survived by his mother, Joanne Cacopardo; father, Sal Cacopardo and his wife, Nancy; and two sisters. Visitation  will take place Thursday, from 4-8 p.m. at Leach & Thomas, Inc. 32 State St., Ossining.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church. Burial will take place at Dale Cemetery.
