Joan Yacenko, 81, Of Fair Lawn
FAIR LAWN, N.J. – Joan (Kozak) Yacenko, 81, died Wednesday, Nov. 11.
She was born June 10, 1934, in Passaic. She married her late husband, Michael Yacenko, April 19, 1958, and moved with him in 1971 to their home in Fair Lawn, where she remained for the rest of her life as a homemaker. It was there that she devoted her time to spoiling her cats, feeding “the outside guys” (any bird, chipmunk, squirrel or other animal that made its way across her back patio) and maintaining her yard and flowerbeds.
Special times were spent with her family going to the mountains, playing cards and charades …
Anthony J. D’Avanzo, 84, Of Montvale
MONTVALE, N.J. – Anthony J. D’Avanzo, 84, of Montvale, died Wednesday, Nov. 11.
Before retiring, he was an accountant for Linde Co. for many years. He was a parishioner and usher at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Pascack Food Center. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean (neé Friel); children Catherine Kohlberger and her husband, Richard; Albert D’Avanzo and his wife, Marya; one sister; and three grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one sister and one brother.

Clarkstown Police Make Additional Pot House Arrest
CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. – An additional suspect stemming from a marijuana grow house bust in September was arrested Wednesday morning, reports the Clarkstown Police Department.
Vincenzo Reda, 34, of Franklin Square, was charged with criminal possession of marijuana first degree, a felony, and conspiracy in the fourth degree, a felony, according to the report.
He was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court and bail was set at $25,000, officials say.
His arrest follows the Sept. 29 drug bust of a residence at Thomas Court in Valley Cottage. Approximately 75 pounds of marijuana with a street value …
Jerzy Gwozdz, 53, Of Wallington
WALLINGTON, N.J. – Jerzy Gwozdz, 53, of Wallington, died Monday, Nov. 9.
He was born Feb. 18, 1962, in Stalowa-Wola, Poland. He came to the United States in 1986 and had lived in Wallington since 2010.
For the past several years, he worked at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood as a maintenance mechanic. In addition to his enjoyment of the History Channel, he was an avid fan of the New Jersey Devils and cherished his time fishing and being in the outdoors.
