Demolition Permit Sought For Dilapidated Historic Home In Holyoke Owners of a Lyman Street property are seeking to demolish the building, but have to get permission from the Holyoke Historical Commission first. A demolition permit is being sought for a dilapidated home 246 Layman St., in Holyoke. The 960-square-foot dwelling is valued at around $99,000, according to Zillow. It was built in 1900, making it an antique. Timber Harvester Plans Disc Golf Course In Western Massachusetts A Disc Golf Course may be coming to New Salem. On Aug. 15, at 1 p.m., the New Salem Planning Board will hold a public hearing to consider the request by Leo Lacwasan for a special permit to operate a golf disc course on a wooded area of Neilson Road. Lacwasan is a timber harvester who grew up in New Salem but now lives in Holyoke. The hearing will be held outdoors at the Old Town Hall. In disc golf, players attempt to hit goals with flying discs using rules similar to those in golf.

Gary W. Bornman, 58, of New Haven, waived his right to be indicted and pleaded guilty Friday, July 31, to two counts of bank robbery, according to the Department of Justice U.S. Attorney’s Office, Connecticut. Over his lifetime, Bornman has admitted to or has been found guilty of robbing at least a 10 banks. New Brewery Coming to Worcester County This Fall A new brewery is slated to open this fall in Clinton. Sterling Street Brewery, at 175 Sterling St., is owned by friends Brian Mason, of Sterling, and Jesse Tarbell, of Lancaster. The brewery will feature beer styles that include pilsners, porters, and IPAs. The owners signed a lease for the property in November 2019, and have been renovating the space to create a brewery and taproom ever since. The building is the former home of Depot Floor Covering.

Great Wolf in Fitchburg is temporarily closed through Aug. 27, according to the park’s website. At alphaborder Prime most of the layoffs will be for machine operators (94) and packers (54). The employees are not represented by a union. The company is a clothing distributor and is not affiliated with Amazon Prime.
