PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Siegfried Mader, 85, died Wednesday, June 24.
He emigrated from Germany for a 32-year career as a research physicist at IBM, and lived for five decades in Croton-on-Hudson
Mader was from the small farming community of Wilhelmsdorf in the far south of Germany, where he was raised by his widowed mother through World War II. His father died less than two years after he was born July 26, 1929. MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Dawn E. LaMorte, 53, a longtime resident of Mount Vernon, died Saturday, June 27.
She was born Oct. 20, 1961, in New Rochelle, New York to Frederick and Mary (Freeman) Eberle. She was a school psychologist for the NYC School District for over 20 years. She was a member of the New Rochelle Irish Benevolent Society.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her stepchildren Tiffany, Tamara and Andrew LaMorte; five grandchildren; five sisters; and one brother; and numerous nieces and nephews.

EASTON, Conn. – Cheryl Lynn Sherwood, 67, of Easton, died Saturday, June 27 at Waterbury Hospital.
Born Aug. 18, 1947, she was the only child of the late Arthur Carlson and Shirley Schuckert Carlson. She also was the niece of the late Ann Woedtke. She was an Easton resident most of her life, residing the last two years at Village Green of Waterbury. She was a 1965 graduate of Joel Barlow High School and worked in accounts payable for several companies, most recently the New England Tank Lining of CT.

NORWALK, Conn. – Wayne A. Bennett, 74, husband of Louise A. Palumbo Bennett, died Friday, June 26.
Born April 18, 1941 in Akron, Ohio, he was son of the late Wayne Bennett and Edna Allen Bennett Ovellette. He moved to Norwalk as a child and worked for SNET as a supervisor for many years. After retirement, he started his company Low Voltage Systems and also restored classic cars. He was very proud of his American Indian Heritage.

Mary DePoto Sopko, 83, Of Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Mary DePoto Sopko, 83, wife to the late Albert J. Sopko, died Saturday, June 27 at Bridgeport Hospital.
Born in New Haven, Connecticut to the late Anthony and Mary Generozzna DePoto, she was raised in Bridgeport and lived in Fairfield for 50 years before returning to Bridgeport in 2006.
She was a retired cook for the Westport Board of Education in Coleytown Elementary School, and worked for Clarke Metals in Bridgeport.
She is survived by her son, Albert Sopko (Judith) of Bridgeport; a granddaughter of Boston; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
