Happy Birthday To River Vale Comic Book Artist Chris Eliopoulos RIVER VALE, N.J. – Happy Birthday to River Vale’s Chris Eliopoulos! Eliopoulos, who lives in River Vale, turns 48 today. The cartoonist and comic book letterer was born in Astoria, Queens Sept. 30, 1967. He is known for hand lettering the first 100 issues of the ongoing “Savage Dragon” series and has designed the fonts for Marvel Comic's in-house computer lettering unit. He has contributed lettering work to Valiant Comics and DC Comics, and has also contributed cartoon strips to the book series "The Complete Idiot's Guide..." and to Sports Illustrated.

He is the younger brother of sportscaster Greg Gumbel. Gumbel's work on “The Today Show” earned him several Emmys. He also worked for CBS on “The Early Show” and currently hosts “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” on HBO.
