Peter C. George, 89, Of Paramus
PARAMUS, N.J. – Peter C. George, 89, of Paramus, died Saturday, Oct. 31.
Born and raised in Asgata, Cyprus, he immigrated to the United States in 1947, and settled in Fair Lawn in 1947 and then Paramus in 1977. An active member of his community, he was a member of St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church in Paramus and was a member of their Seniors Club, AHEPA Alexander Hamilton Chapter # 54, Carpenters Union, Asgata Association of Cyprus, Paramus Seniors and the Fair Lawn Auxiliary Police Department.
Prior to retiring, he worked as a carpenter for the local carpenters union for many years.

LYNDHURST, N.J. – Bernard Joseph Weis, 87, of Lyndhurst, died Thursday, Oct. 29.
He was the son of Bernard and Lillian (Donnelly) Weis. He grew up with both parents and his sister, Helen, in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Lyndhurst.
When he was 16, he learned to play the trombone, then studied privately in New York City and played in various jazz bands. In 1944, he was selected to perform with the New Jersey All State Orchestra. John Sloma, 58, Of Passaic
PASSAIC, N.J. – John Sloma, 58, a lifelong resident of Passaic, died Sunday, Nov. 1.
He was born March 24, 1957, in Korchowiska, Poland, to Wojciek and Anna (Szot) Sloma. He came to the United States in 1967 and settled with his family in Passaic. He attended Holy Rosary Grammar School and was a graduate of Passaic High School class of 1975.
He worked at Oakonite Cable in Paterson until his retirement in 2007. He also was a union member of the United Rubber, Cork Linoleum and Plastic Workers of America, Local No. 495.
He was predeceased by his parents.

ROCHELLE PARK, N.J. – Doris Scheider, 88, of Rochelle Park, died Sunday, Nov. 1.
She was the wife of the late Patrick Scheider, who died earlier this year; mother of Dawn Calamari and her partner, Klaus Brinkrode, of the Township of Washington; Gail Noyes and her husband, Matt, of Sharpsburg, Md.; Karen Underwood of Frederick, Md.; and Lori Padula and her husband, William, of Fuquay Varina, N.C.; and grandmother of five.

Couple Charged In Attempt To Steal $3,000 In Merchandise At Kohl's
CORTLANDT, N.Y. – A Bronx man and a Massachusetts woman were arrested Monday for attempting to steal $3,000 worth of merchandise from Kohl's on Main Street in Cortlandt, according to the New York State Police.
Carlos C. Jessamy, 38, of the Bronx, and Erin F. Driscoll, 25, of Pittsfield, Mass., were charged with grand larceny in the third degree after an investigation revealed that Jessamy entered Kohl’s and filled two suitcases with more than $3,000 worth of assorted merchandise while Driscoll waited outside in a running vehicle, according to the report.
