BERGENFIELD, N.J. – Herbert Langer, 94, of Bergenfield, died Wednesday, Nov. 4.
He was a graduate of CCNY and studied geology at the University of Minnesota until World War II broke out. He then joined the U.S. Navy and was assigned classified work as a cartographer at the Pentagon, where he met his future wife, Olga.
For 35 years, he and Olga owned and operated two businesses in Bergenfield, Langer Leasing and Bergenfield Sports and Auto. He was a member of the Bergenfield Chamber of Commerce and served as a Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts. After retiring, he worked part time for several au…

DUMONT, N.J. – Pauline J. Huls, 84, of Dumont, formerly of Bergenfield, died Monday, Nov. 9.
She was born in Teaneck to John and Pauline Hollmann.
She is survived by her children Kathleen Ann Ruggero and her husband, Denis Donovan; Diana Spliedt and her husband, William; three grandchildren; and four sisters.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Huls; son Joseph; and four siblings.

DUMONT, N.J. – Gloria Teresa Holtje, 87, of Quakertown, Pa, died Sunday, Nov. 8.
She was the widow of Howard Holtje Sr.
She was born and grew up in Fort Lee, raised her family with her husband in Dumont and retired to Barnegat before moving to Pennsylvania.

'No Man Down' Fall Lax Classic Will Be Played In Westchester
ARMONK, N.Y. – Byram Hills is hosting the second annual “No Man Down" Lacrosse Classic tournament to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Sunday, Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Byram Hills High School.
Last year’s inaugural tournament involved 54 teams with approximately 700 youth and nearly 1,000 spectators, and raised approximately $60,000 for WWP. This year there are 60 teams registered for the event from the lower Hudson Valley, Westchester County, Fairfield County, Connecticut, and Long Island.

Ridgefield Police: Knife-Wielding Man Forced His Way Into Home
RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Multiple home burglaries and a vehicle break-in in the same part of town were reported last week, including one incident in which a knife-wielding man forced his way into a home, according to the Ridgefield police.
On Saturday, Oct. 31 at 5:45 p.m., a burglary on Mamanasco Road was reported, police said. The home was burglarized between 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, and 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, police said.

Ex-Brookfield School Finance Employee Kerekes Seeks Probation
BROOKFIELD, Conn. – Elizabeth Kerekes, a former Brookfield school finance department employee accused of stealing more than $30,000 from the Brookfield School District, applied for accelerated rehabilitation in court Monday, reports Newstimes.com.
The probation program would allow Kerekes, 41, to plead not guilty to first-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny charges, but she could be placed on up to two years of probation, according to the report.
