Scam Alert: Text Alerts About Traffic Cameras, Fines Not Real, Westport Police Say A police department in Fairfield County is warning residents that text messages regarding traffic cameras and fines are a scam and not to fall for them. Lt. Eric Woods, of the Westport Police, said that a member of the department received a text on Monday, Feb. 5 saying they owed money for a traffic violation connected to a traffic camera. "The Westport Police Department does not use traffic cameras and we do not solicit payment for any violations in this manner," Woods said. Woods encouraged residents who receive suspicious emails, texts, or phone calls to ignore and delete them.

CT Woman Charged With DUI For Driving Wrong Direction On Highway, Causing Crash A Connecticut woman was charged with alleged driving under the influence after causing a crash while driving in the wrong direction, according to State Police. Fairfield County resident Heather Maton, age 55, of Bethel, was arrested on Sunday, Feb. 4 around 12:30 a.m. in New Haven County in the town of Seymour. Tragedy: 2 Young Children From Fairfield County ID'd After Horrific Fatal Crash Two children ages 3 and 6 were killed and several people were seriously injured in a two-vehicle Connecticut crash. The crash took place in western New Haven County around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4 in Beacon Falls in the northbound lanes of Route 8. Trio Nabbed For Hudson Valley Home Burglaries, Police Say Three men were apprehended by police in the Hudson Valley shortly after allegedly committing home burglaries. The incident occurred in Orange County around 7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 2, on Continental Drive in New Windsor. 41-Year-Old Killed After Crashing Into Telephone Pole In Norwalk A man was killed in a single-vehicle crash after striking a telephone pole in Fairfield County. The 41-year-old died around 8:20 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 4 in Norwalk after his motorcycle drove off the roadway and struck the pole in the area of 238 West Cedar St. According to Lt. Tomasz Podgorski of the Norwalk Police, following the crash, the victim, Jared Taylor, a resident of Norwalk, was transported to Norwalk Hospital where he died from his injuries. CT Man Charged With Robbery Of Convenience Store A Connecticut man was nabbed for an alleged armed robbery of a convenience store after police tracked him down by connecting him to a truck that was suspected to have been used in other crimes. Fight Over Cell Phone In Darien Leads To Weston Teen's Arrest, Police Say A Fairfield County teen was charged with alleged breach of peace after getting into a fight over a cell phone. Annabelle Capola, age 19, of Weston, turned herself in to Darien Police on Monday, Jan. 15 for the Wednesday, Jan. 3 incident. According to Sgt. 3 Charged In Stabbing At Hudson Valley Amazon Facility A man and two women were charged in connection with an alleged stabbing inside an Amazon facility in the Hudson Valley.
