Traffic Update: Gas Leak Closes Part of Route 146 In Millbury For At Least Another Hour Traffic has come to a halt after a gas main was struck this morning, July 27, by contractors working near Route 146, Exit 10 onto Route 20, and the Mass Pike. The Fire Department is on scene mitigating the leak. Northbound travel lanes on Route 146 are closed and traffic is being diverted to Exit 9. Firefighters estimate that the leak won't be under control for at least another hour. Traffic is backed up for miles. The story will be updated as more information becomes available.

Rally Held For Hotel Worker Attacked by NY Couple; Suspects To Face Bigotry Charges A Connecticut community came together to support a hotel worker injured during an allegedly racially-motivated attack as a New York couple is due to face charges of bigotry and assault this week. Dozens of people congregated Sunday, July 26, in Stonington for a rally in support of Crystal Caldwell, 59, a Groton woman that video surveillance shows was viciously attacked while working at the Quality Inn in Mystic. Police Seek Public's Help To ID Wilbraham Armed Robbery Suspect Wilbraham Police are investigating an armed robbery at a Wilbraham CVS. The alleged theft happened on Wednesday, July 22. On that day, a male threatened a Boston Road CVS cashier with a firearm, which was not shown. The suspect fled west on Boston Road, police said, possibly in a Toyota Camry or Honda Accord. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Wilbraham Police at (413) 596-3837.

Hartford's Southwest District Hit With Eight Car Break-ins Police received eight reports of car break-ins from Hartford’s Southwest District on July 24. The streets where break-ins allegedly occurred include Salem, Amherst, Arlington, and Freeman streets. Police have two suspects, who may be armed, police said. A light-colored, late-model Nissan is the car the suspects were driving. Video surveillance has been recovered. If the suspects are seen, police said, do not approach them. Police Probe Homicide On Hartford's Asylum Avenue Hartford Police are investigating an Asylum Avenue homicide from Sunday, July 26. Police said they found an adult male homicide victim at 784 Asylum Avenue. There is a suspect in the case who is with investigators, police said.

Traffic Alert: What Drivers Need to Know About Worcester's Canal District Construction This week Canal District construction will impact about a dozen roadways, altering drive times and traffic patterns while contractors install curbs, a fire hydrant, and electrical work. Construction in the Canal District began August 2019, when work got underway to build a new $86 million to $90 million ballpark, Polar Park, to host the Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. Busted: Man Accused of Snatching An Elderly Lady's Purse Arrested In Northampton A man suspected of robbing an elderly woman of her purse, while she waited at a bus stop, has been arrested by Northampton Police. On Thursday, July 23, at around 10 a.m., Northampton Police responded to a report of a male swiping a purse on State Street, police said. Officers learned the 78-year-old woman had been waiting at the Pulaski Park bus stop when her purse was snatched from her shopping cart. Hartford Family Displaced By Westland Street House Fire A Hartford family has been displaced following a fire that destroyed their Westland Street home Saturday, July 25, The fire was reported at about 9:30 p.m. About 20 minutes later, Hartford Fire called out for mutual assistance to a two-family home at 235 Westland St. Only one of the two units was occupied, fire officials said. No injuries were reported in the incident, the Hartford Fire Department said. The home is uninhabitable. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Police ID 19-year-old Worcester Motorcycle Crash Victim Worcester Police have identified the teenage victim in a Thursday, July 23, motorcycle crash on Lincoln Street. Joao Gabriel Heliodoro, 19, was killed when a motorcycle he was riding collided with a Honda sedan, NewsBreak is reporting. Heliodoro was thrown from the bike and pronounced dead at the scene. Fire Rips Through Mobile Home in Wales The Wales community is rallying around a woman who lost her mobile home to fire Saturday, July 25. The Wales Fire Department responded to report of a fire at Wales Brookside Village Saturday afternoon. It was a two-alarm fire and firefighters from Brimfield, Holland, Monsoon, Stafford, Sturbridge, and Warren responded. Brimfield Police were also on-scene.
