46-Unit Affordable Housing Community Proposed in Orange Developers are proposing a new, 46-unit, affordable housing complex in Orange. Plans submitted by Gyroscope Development Group to the Orange Town Plan and Zoning Commission show a proposed residential community, for low-income families, with seven buildings and 92 parking spaces. The proposed site of construction is 329 Smith Farm Road as well as other parcels along Smith Farm Raod, Neenan Street, and Neenan Street Extension. The complex would be set on 4.7 acres. Edwin Franqui, 24, was arrested July 23 at 9:36 a.m. on High Street and charged with two counts of murder, first-degree assault, carrying a pistol without a permit, and the use of a firearm in a crime, police said. His 29-year-old brother has the same first and last name as Franqui. The older brother was arrested on the day of the crime. Covid-19: Men's Wearhouse, Jos. A. Bank To Close Up To 500 Stores Men’s Wearhouse and Jos. A. Bank will close up to 500 stores and lay off 20 percent of its corporate workforce, the California-based company has announced.  The company has not announced a timeline for closure. The continuing negative economic impact of COVID-19 was largely blamed for the decision, according to corporate parent company Tailored Brands President Dinseh Lathi. Following these changes, the company expects to pay about $6 million in severance pay and other termination costs. Tailored Brands has an estimated 1,500 stores across all of its brands.

Dean Park Pond was closed to the public by health officials July 10 after the discovery of high levels of E. Coli. The Main Street pond was tested again on July 16 and a high level of the bacteria was found again. Levels are not at a level safe for fishing.

Siddiq Chaudhary, 70, of South Windsor, pleaded guilty on July 23 to conspiracy to commit food stamp fraud and food stamp fraud.
