Webster Is Missing $1 Million Due to State 'Glitch' Misplacing $1 million is a big deal for anyone - it certainly is for the Town of Webster, which recently discovered the missing funds. While closing out books for fiscal 2020, Webster officials noticed that $1 million in state aid was never sent to the town. The Town Administer Doug Willardson contacted the Department of Revenue and was told the missing money is due to an “accounting glitch,” the Webster Times reported. The money will be refunded to the town ASAP. No other communities appear to have experienced a similar shortage, according to the state.

It Was Good While It Lasted: Northampton Parking Fees To Resume After about a month of free parking in downtown Northampton, the meters are about to click on again. Due to the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic, and to encourage downtown shopping, Northampton had temporarily suspended parking fees starting on July 1. The fees are set to resume on Aug. 3, Mayor David Narkewicz said Monday, July 27. “It’s time to restart the system,” Narkewicz said. Parking enforcement officers have been enforcing all other non-fee related parking restrictions such as handicap parking and no parking zones.

Police ID Suspect in Fatal Norwich Shooting Norwich Police have identified a suspect in the murder of a 39-year-old local man earlier this month. Philip C. Wise, 39, is wanted on one count of murder in connection with a fatal July 21 shooting. On that day, at around 4:30 p.m., Norwich Police responded to a reported shooting on Lake Street.
