Jon graduated from Cornell University and received his master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Across a 35-year career, he's worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago, New York, Ohio & Washington, D.C and as managing editor for weekly newspapers in Rye, White Plains and Harrison.

Jon also writes periodically for the Cornell Chronicle.

Driver High On Fentanyl In Fatal NJ Crash Gets Prison Time A 32-year-old woman from Monmouth County has been sentenced in a fatal crash while high on drugs, authorities said. Ashley Watkins, 32, of Eatontown, was sentenced to five years in New Jersey State Prison on Friday, Dec. 1, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. Car Thieves Climb Fence, Captured After Linden Pursuit: Cops Two suspects were arrested in Linden while fleeing police on foot after crashing a stolen vehicle, authorities said. Pedestrian Struck, Killed On Jersey Shore: Police An 86-year-old man was struck and killed by a pickup in Harvey Cedars on Long Beach Island, authorities said. Ralph Alston, of Little Egg Harbor, was hit while crossing Long Beach Boulevard near the intersection of 80th Street at about 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, according to Harvey Cedars Police Chief Robert Burnaford. Alston was airlifted to AtantiCare Regional Medical Center, where he died of his injuries, Burnaford said. Body Found At Scene Of Fire In Woodbridge: Prosecutor A body has been found at the scene of a fire in Woodbridge, authorities said. A woman was reported missing after the fire on Friday, Dec. 1, they said. The body was burned too badly to make a positive identification, according to Brynn Krause, a spokeswoman for the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office. Tennis Pro Gets 56 Years For Sex Crimes Against Student On Jersey Shore: Prosecutor A former youth tennis instructor convicted at trial of numerous sexual crimes committed against a student has been sentenced to 56 ½ years in New Jersey State Prison, authorities said.
