Jon graduated from Cornell University and received his master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Across a 35-year career, he's worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago, New York, Ohio & Washington, D.C and as managing editor for weekly newspapers in Rye, White Plains and Harrison.

Uber Driver, Passenger Seriously Injured After Rear-Ending Dump Truck On Route 1 An Uber driver and a passenger were seriously injured after crashing into a dump truck on Route 1, authorities said. The crash occurred shortly before 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24, in the southbound lanes near New Road, according to South Brunswick police. The Uber driver ran into the rear of the truck which was stopped at a red light,, police said.  Route 1 was closed for several hours. An investigation was ongoing.

Police ID Pedestrian Struck, Killed After Climbing Over Route 9 Barrier In Central Jersey Sayreville police have identified the 49-year-old pedestrian killed when he was struck by a vehicle after climbing over a concrete barrier on Route 9. Scott Munk, of Hamburg, NY, was struck at about 12:40 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 22 in the 900 block of Route 9 North as he tried to cross the highway, according to Sayreville Police Lt. James Novak. Munk had jumped the barrier and was struck by a passing vehicle, Novak said. The driver remained at the scene and has not been charged, the lieutenant said on Wednesday, Jan. 24. The crash remains under investigation.

Tractor-Trailer Flips On New Jersey Turnpike (Updated) A driver escaped serious injury when his tractor-trailer overturned on the New Jersey Turnpike in Camden County, authorities said. The crash occurred shortly before 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24 on the turnpike southbound near milepost 27 in Barrington, according to New Jersey State Police spokesman Troy McNair. The driver lost control of his tractor-trailer, ran off the roadway to the right and overturned, McNair said. The driver sustained minor injuries, he said. One right lane of two lanes was blocked, 511nj.org reported. The crash remains under investigation.
