Shooting In Western Mass College Town Under Investigation Police are investigating an apparent shooting in a Western Massachusetts college town. On Tuesday, a little before 8 p.m., police received numerous reports of gunshots in the area of Camden and Lyman streets in South Hadley. Soon thereafter, police learned of a single victim transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment to a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, police said. Trooper Hit By Alleged DUI Driver Transported To Hospital A woman is facing a DUI charge after allegedly crashing into a stationary police cruiser on I-395 and putting the officer in the vehicle in the hospital. On Tuesday, Oct. 27, around 9:15 p.m. a recent graduate of the Connecticut State Trooper Training program was on I-395 at Exit 11 in Norwich addressing a motor vehicle accident that had just happened, police said. UMass Basketball, Tennis Stripped Of NCAA Wins And Title Over Misspent $9,000 The NCAA is stripping UMass Amherst Men’s Basketball and Women’s Tennis of past victories. The UMass men’s basketball team will vacate 59 wins. The women’s tennis team is being stripped of three year’s worth of wins including the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship, according to The Guardian. UMass plans to appeal the penalty. Voters Urged To Hand-Deliver Unsent Mail-In Ballots - 'Do Not Rely On USPS' Do not rely on the U.S. Postal Service to deliver your ballot on time for the election if you haven’t sent it already is the message politicians and reporters are trumpeting following a report that delivery times are way down. Police Seize Nearly 30,000 Packets Of Heroin In Major WMass Bust Police confiscated nearly 30,000 bags of heroin in a huge drug bust on Friday. Following a year-long investigation, on Friday, Oct. 23, Springfield Police allegedly observed drug deals at a Quincy Street home under surveillance, police said. Police secured the area, applied for and received a warrant, then searched the home. Inside police allegedly found 600 grams of packaged heroin (29,573 bags) and $6,700, police said. Local Police Who Fatally Shot Unarmed Fugitive Cleared Of Wrong-Doing Four Connecticut police officers who fatally shot an unarmed man during an April stand-off have been cleared of wrong-doing by the state. The Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice recently issued its completed investigation into the deadly use of force that killed Jose Enrique Soto at his mother’s home on April 2 in Manchester. Covid-19 Outbreak Cluster Traced Back To One Church About 30 new cases of COVID-19 have been connected to a single church. And anyone who attended services on the day of the outbreak is being asked to monitor themselves carefully for signs of COVID-19. Rollover Car Crash Closes Roadway, But No Injuries A rollover car crash snarled traffic as emergency responders had to close a roadway to clear the accident. On Tuesday, Oct. 27 at about 8 a.m. Wethersfield Police and Firefighters responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Silas Deane Highway at Wells Road, police said. No injuries were reported, but police have asked people to avoid the area while the vehicle is towed and power lines are repaired.

Wasn't Me: Men Blame Each Other During Arrests Two men apparently opted not to use their right to remain silent and started blaming each other during a recent arrest. On Friday, Oct. 23, police allegedly witnessed multiple drug deals in the East Elm Street, Riverdale Street area of West Springfield.
