CT Craft Breweries Win Gold, Silver Medals In National Competition Two Connecticut craft beers have won medals at the 34th annual Great American Beer competition. Competing against 1,700 other breweries from across the nation, Counter Weight Brewing Company of Hamden and East Rock Brewing Company of New Haven stood out from the pack. Counter Weight won a gold medal over 89 other challengers in the German-style Oktoberfest or “Dortmunder” category. East Rock Brewing won a silver medal for its Vienna Lager beating out 109 other entries for the honor. The Great American Beer Festival and competition are based in Boulder, Colorado. Cold Case: Who Killed Karen Soucie? 20 Years On, DA Seeking Public's Help On the 20th anniversary of her death, the DA is renewing his request for people to come forward with any information they may have about what happened to Karen Soucie, a slain mother of two children. Soucie’s body was discovered on Nov. 3, 2000, by her landlord, Hampden County District Attorney Anthony Gulluni’s Office said. The landlord at 22 Berkshire St., in Springfield, noticed Soucie’s car had not moved and she had not picked up her mail in two days. He went into her apartment and found Soucie dead in her bathroom. Seen Him? 14-Year-Old Boy Missing For A Month, Police Seek Public's Help Police are seeking the public’s help in finding a 14-year-old boy who has been missing for about a month. The family of Cardia Saunders, 14, is searching for Saunders after he ran away from a program in which he was involved. Saunders is 5’9” and 130 lbs. He is Black. Springfield Police received a report in October that Saunders had been spotted in the city. If anyone has information about Saunders whereabouts or have seen him, contact police at (413) 787-6300.

Police Yank 3,300 Marijuana Plants From Illegal Grow Police have busted a giant underground marijuana growing operation that had more than 3,300 plants when police made the arrests. On Friday, Oct. 30, at around 2 p.m. police and FBI agents swarmed 946 Elm St. in West Springfield to execute a search warrant. After making entry, police allegedly found a large-scale cultivation operation in a commercial building with at least 14 grow rooms, police said.
