Northampton Roundabout Detour To Send Vehicles Over the Coolidge Bridge For two to three weeks, motorists exiting Interstate 91 at Northampton Exit 19 will be in for a  long detour over the Coolidge Bridge. The detour is necessary, state officials said, to allow for the construction of a new $8 million roundabout, traffic lights and pedestrian crossing at the Damon Road-Route 9 intersection in Northampton. Alvin “King Humble” Mojica, 32, pleaded guilty, in a Massachusetts U.S. District Court on July 15, to the charge of distribution of cocaine. Mojica was arrested Dec. 5. Rollover Closes Section of I-395 Northbound A portion of I-395, northbound, near Exit 3 in Webster has been closed early this morning, July 16.  State Police report a rollover accident is the cause of the traffic snarls. The area is predicted to reopen around 10 a.m., according to the Massachusetts State Police live traffic map.  As of 9 a.m., highway traffic was slowed to a crawl by Exit 3 and on the nearby Cudworth Road. Suspects Arrested Following Berlin Car Theft And Attempted String of Vehicle Break-ins Berlin Police made two arrests in connection with a string of attempted car break-ins and two stolen vehicles. From late-night, July 14, to early morning, July 15, the Berlin Police Department received several reports that someone had tried to break into vehicles. One of the vehicles, a BMW, was stolen from the Skyview Drive area, police said. A Surprise Sinkhole In Chicopee Is Causing Traffic Snarls In The Area A sinkhole near the intersection of Ramond Road and Chicopee Street has caused traffic snarls in the area. The hole first appeared the morning of July 14 when the paved road gave way and a parked car sank about halfway into the hole. No one was injured in the surprise incident, said Erin Hastings, executive director of Westcomm Regional Dispatch. It is not clear what caused the sinkhole to open, but Hastings said dispatch was made aware of a nearby water main break that may have had something to do with it. The water main was repaired by 1 p.m.
