Nurses To Protest 'Unsafe' Environment, Wage Freezes At Cooley Dickinson Hospital Nurses and allies will protest outside of Cooley Dickinson Hospital Wednesday, Aug. 12, afternoon to bring attention to what they’re calling “unsafe” staffing levels and protections during the COVID-19 pandemic. Cooley Dickinson Hospital is based in Northampton and is owned by Mass General Brigham, formerly Partners Healthcare. In addition to the safety concerns, nurses are critical of Mass General Brigham’s proposed wage and retirement freezes. A request for comment from Mass General Brigham was not immediately returned. Town Infection Rates, Trends - Hampshire County, August Positive COVID-19 test rates in Amherst, Easthampton, Granby, Northampton, South Hadley, and Williamsburg are at the highest they’ve been over the last four weeks, according to new state data. Meanwhile, Belchertown’s 14-day COVID-19 positive test rate is going down. The rate went from 3.6 percent to 2.7 percent in one week. Dispute Over Leaf-Blowing Leads To Arrest A dispute between neighbors over leaf-blowing led to a Milford man’s arrest, Wed., Aug. 6. Police responded to a Glen Street residence Wednesday at around 5 p.m. to find neighbors arguing about whether one of them blew leaves toward the other’s lawn. One of the neighbors, a 76-year-old man, allegedly threatened to have someone break the other person’s legs due to them blowing leaves towards his yard. The man was arrested for second-degree threatening.
