Motorcyclist ID'd After Killed By Drunk Driver In North Bellmore, Police Say (Update)
A drunk driver killed a motorcyclist in a Long Island crash before fleeing the scene on foot, police said.
The wreck happened around 11 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, in North Bellmore, on North Jerusalem Road and Sherman Avenue, according to Nassau County Police.
Daniel Bliss, 63, was riding a Harley Davidson eastbound when he collided with a Chevrolet driven westbound by 59-year-old Patrick Thompson, police said. Bliss, of North Bellmore, suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 57-year-old Louisiana man was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Route 78 in Hunterdon County on Monday, Sept. 29, authorities said.
Marshall Vizinat, a Baton Rouge resident, was standing outside of his tractor-trailer, which was parked on the right shoulder on Route 78, when he was struck by a vehicle just before 8 p.m. in the westbound lanes in Readington, according to Christopher Postorino, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police.
The vehicle did not remain at the scene and continued westbound, Postorino said. Vizinat was pronounced dead at the scene, Postorino said.

A Long Island man known for his kindness and passion for cycling is fighting to recover after a hit-and-run crash left him critically injured.
Kyle Briand, of Montauk, was riding his bike on the night of Sunday, Aug. 10, when he was struck by a driver who fled the scene, his sister Amanda Corwin wrote on a GoFundMe page.
