Burned Victim Found Dead After Raging House Fire In Sparrow Bush A person was found dead inside an Orange County home after a raging overnight fire, police said. The blaze broke out at a home on Darraugh Lane in Sparrowbush around 12:50 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 28, according to New York State Police.  Troopers responded after receiving a report that the residence was fully engulfed in flames. Crews from the Sparrowbush Fire Department also responded to the scene and extinguished the blaze, police said. Route 343 Stretch To Close For Year In Dover — Here's Where Drivers in Dutchess County will have to use a detour for a year as a stretch of Route 343 closes for a culvert replacement project.  Route 343, also known as Tinker Town Road, will close between McArthur Place and Little Glenn Avenue in the Town of Dover beginning at noon on Friday, Aug. 28, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.   The closure is expected to remain in place through the end of summer 2027 while crews replace a culvert, NYSDOT said.  Drivers traveling through the area are being advised to follow the posted detour.
