Man Killed After Being Struck By Train In Plainfield: Authorities A man was fatally struck by a train in Plainfield on Sunday, Aug. 3, authorities said. At 10 a.m., Raritan Valley train 5515, hit and killed the man in the vicinity of Grant Avenue just west of Plainfield Station, NJ Transit said. The victim has not been identified. No injuries were reported to the 37 customers and crew on board the train, which had departed Newark Penn Station at 9:38 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Raritan Station at 10:42 a.m., NJ Transit said. Phillipsburg Man Arrested For Shooting In Pennsylvania: Prosecutor A 20-year-old Phillipsburg man was arrested and charged with firing several shots at a residence, authorities announced Monday, Aug. 4. On Sunday, Aug. 3, at 3:36 a.m., Phillipsburg police responded to the 400 block of Anderson Street after receiving a ShotSpotter alert and discovered a suspect, later identified as Andrew Weaver, fired several shots at a residence, one of which penetrated through a window, the Warren County Prosecutor's Office said. Fire Breaks Out At Harrison Wastewater Treatment Plant: Authorities A fire occurred at the Harrison Wastewater Treatment Plant Monday evening, Aug. 4, authorities said. At 7 p.m., first responders were on scene for the blaze in an office building of the plant at 35 Woodland Ave., Mayor Adam Wingate said. The office was unoccupied at the time the fire and no injuries were reported, Wingate said. The cause of the fire is unknown and is being investigated by the Gloucester County Fire Marshal's Office, Wingate said.

Wrong Way DUI Perth Amboy Driver Involved In Crash That Killed Cyclist: Police A 20-year-old Perth Amboy driver was arrested and charged with driving under the influence in the death of a 71-year-old Kenilworth cyclist in Westfield on Monday, Aug. 4, authorities said. Dump Truck Hauling Asphalt Crashes Into Home: Howell PD Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash that culminated in a dump truck crashing into a home in Howell on Monday morning, Aug. 4, authorities said. 86-Year-Old Maplewood Man Killed After Hit By Truck On Route 78: Njsp An 86-year-old Maplewood man was killed after he was hit by a truck on Route 78 in Union County, authorities announced Monday, Aug. 4. On Thursday, July 31, at 11:57 a.m., troopers responded to Route 78 East in Union Township after Welton Johnson entered the roadway and was struck by a Freightliner tractor trailer, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said. Funeral arrangements have not been publicly released.
