Traffic Update: All Lanes Open On I-87 After Hudson Valley Overpass Hit, Driver Charged
One day after a tractor-trailer carrying an oversized load hit a Hudson Valley overpass on I-87, causing a massive backup, all lanes have reopened and traffic is running smoothly.
The incident took place in Rockland County around 6:45 a.m. at the South Broadway overpass at the exit of South Nyack, said the New York State Police.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, Ivan N. Varava, age 39, of Hollywood, Florida, was traveling southbound when the large steel tower he was transporting struck the overpass causing significant structural damage, state police said.

Vigil To Be Held For Beloved Hartsdale Community Leader Killed In Hit-Run Crash
A vigil is planned to honor a much-loved Westchester community leader who was killed by a hit-and-driver.
Stephanie Kavourias, age 65, of the hamlet of Hartsdale, was struck by a driver allegedly high on drugs or alcohol around 11:15 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26 in the area of 177 Hartsdale Ave., in Hartsdale.
Kavourias, who was highly respected in the community for her service as the former manager of the Hartsdale Parking Authority, was struck by a vehicle driven by Antonio Sanchez Robles, age 42, of Brooklyn, who fled the scene, said the Town of Greenburgh Police Department.

Former Norwalk School Bookkeeper Stole $35K, Police Say
A former Fairfield County school bookkeeper has been charged with felony larceny after allegedly stealing more than $35,000, police said.
Marilyn Knox, age 67, of Norwalk, was charged on Wednesday, Aug. 30, for stealing money while employed at Brien McMahon High School.
According to Lt. Tomasz Podgorski, of the Norwalk Police, on Tuesday, June 20, the Norwalk Public Schools contacted the Norwalk Police Department regarding a previously employed staff member who committed thefts over an extended period of time.
