34-Year-Old Shot To Death Near Capital Region Park After Repeated Fights, Police Say Police are seeking tips after a man was shot to death near a park in the region. The killing happened at around 10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, near Albany’s Bleecker Stadium, near Ontario and First streets. Albany Police said officers were called about a shooting and found evidence consistent with gunfire when they arrived. As detectives were investigating the incident, they learned that a 34-year-old gunshot victim had been dropped off at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Lane Closures Scheduled For Portion Of Long Island Expressway Scheduled roadwork could spell delays for Long Island drivers later this week. The eastbound right and center lanes of the Long Island Expressway are scheduled to close between exit 61 and Exit 62 in Brookhaven overnight Thursday night, Feb. 8. Freight Train Derailment Shuts Down Capital Region Highway; 2 Cars Plunge Into River Cleanup efforts are underway following a freight train derailment that shut down a major highway in the region. The Rensselaer County incident happened just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, near Route 67 in Valley Falls. County officials said a Norfolk Southern train was carrying a total of 94 cars when 10 of them derailed near the Hoosic River. Of the 10 cars that left the tracks, two went into the river.
