Old Bridge Police Officer Dies Unexpectedly After Nearly 3 Years On The Force
The Old Bridge Police Department is mourning the unexpected death of one of its own.
Officer Andrew Paterek died on Monday, June 23, the Old Bridge PBA Local 127 said.
“Andrew was more than a dedicated officer,” the PBA said in a statement. “He was a friend, a protector, and a true example of what it means to serve with integrity and compassion. His kindness, humility, and commitment to our community touched countless lives. Whether responding to a call, lending a helping hand, or simply offering words of encouragement, Andrew’s presence made this world a better, safer place.”

'Why Are You Stopping Me?' Motorcyclist Leads Chase Through East Rutherford Yards, Cops Say
A 34-year-old Bergen County man is facing charges after police say he led officers on a wild motorcycle chase through streets and lawns.
East Rutherford Police Sgt. Rubino attempted to stop a motorcycle with an unclear license plate on Paterson Avenue on Saturday, June 21, according to East Rutherford Police Capt. Jeff Yannacone.
Instead of pulling over, the operator, later identified as Jorge Malndonado-Perez, 34, “refused to stop and continued traveling on Paterson Avenue,” Yannacone said. At one point, the driver turned around and yelled, “Why are you stopping me?” police said.

The State Fair Meadowlands, one of New Jersey’s biggest summer events, is taking a two-year hiatus to make way for soccer.
The fair, held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, will not return until Summer 2027, organizers announced.

Just two weeks after celebrating their twins’ first birthday, a Bethlehem family was shattered by tragedy.
Matthew D. Semsey, 33, was kissing his one-year-olds inside their home before heading outside to work on his car. Minutes later, a jack failed, causing the vehicle to collapse on top of him, killing him instantly on Saturday, June 21, officials say.
