BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Joseph J. Garamella, of Bridgeport, died Saturday, March 5. He was 90.
Born in Manhattan on Feb. 12, 1926, he was the son of the late Antonio and Lena (Cammorata) Garamella, and was a Bridgeport resident for the majority of his life.
After returning home from serving in the U.S. Army, he started his own driving school in the late 1950s, helping to put countless skilled drivers on the road, some of whom were his own family members. WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Phillip J. Marinelli of White Plains died Sunday, March 6. He was 91.
He was born March 15, 1924, in New York City, the son of Mauro and Frances Marinelli. He graduated from White Plains High School in 1942. He married Mafalda Salvatore on Oct. 24, 1948, at Holy Innocent Church in Pleasantville. He served in the U.S. Army as technician fifth grade 3809th Quartermaster Truck Company from February 1943 to October 1945, stationed in Belgium.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Elizabeth (Betty) Newton, of Bridgeport, died Wednesday, March 2. She was 90.
Born in Bridgeport on July 27, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Chauncey and Eva Sears. She was a lifelong area resident and graduated from Bassick High School in 1943. As a wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she enjoyed baking, knitting, gardening, dancing, shopping with her granddaughter, going to the movies with her grandson and meeting friends for lunch. HARRISON, N.Y. – The Rev. Frank J. Stagno Jr. of Harrison died Sunday, March 6. He was 73.
He was born Feb. 26, 1943, to Frank and Bertha Stagno. He served in the Air National Guard. He was the proprietor of S&S Auto Body in Harrison. He was the pastor of Trinity Assembly of God Church in Mamaroneck and was also the owner of The Hot Dog Hut on Harrison Avenue. He was a 50-year member of the Harrison Fire Department, where he served as a volunteer, captain and chaplain.

CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. – Thomas Neil Savage, of Cortlandt Manor, died Saturday, March 5. He was 62.
He was born in the Bronx on Aug. 10, 1953, to Thomas F. and Patricia E. Sterling Savage. He was a service manager for AT&T. He married Josephine "Jay" Leahy in 1974.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters and their spouses,Tara and Daniel Carlucci, and Lisa and Michael Negvesky; three grandchildren, Brayden, Mackenzie and Daniel; his mother, Patricia; and his siblings, John, Dennis, Maureen Ciaci and Patty Desiderio.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Rafael Velez, of Bridgeport, died Friday, March 4. He was 72.He was born in Havana, Cuba on July 23, 1943. He was married for 51 years to his wife, Dora Velez.
He will be remembered for being a great chef and his renowned empanadas. He would captivate those around him with stories of his travels all over the world and was never short of wise and virtuous teachings.
He is survived by his wife, Dora; brother, Jorge; two sons, Carlos and Miguel; and four grandchildren, Miguel, Otton, Carlos and Laura.
