KEARNY, N.J. – Robert L. Chapman, 87, of Kearny, died Sunday, Oct. 18 at the Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville.
Born in Newark, he lived in North Arlington before moving to Kearny in 1979. He worked as an electrical engineer for AT&T, formerly Western Electric, in Newark for many years before retiring 31 years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was the husband of Helen M. (neé Doxbeck ); father of Robert L. Chapman Jr. and Karen Hrevnack (Michael); grandfather of two; and brother to four siblings.

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Rev. Msgr. James O. Sheerin, 85, of Rutherford, died Thursday, Oct. 15.
He was born in Jersey City to the late Owen and Mary (neé) Maloney Sheerin. He was a graduate of Seton Hall Prep, Seton Hall University, Immaculate Conception Seminary and was ordained to the priesthood in May 1956 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Newark.

He was a hairdresser by trade but was always ready to try his hand at new things. He was a successful real estate sales person, an artist, a cook and an avid gardener. He loved reading and always was eager to share his talents with those he cared for. ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. – Albert P. “Al” Manfredi, 89, of Elmwood Park, died Thursday, Oct. 15.
Born in Paterson, Manfredi was a resident of Elmwood Park for 55 years. He was the owner of U.S. Artistic Monument in Elmwood Park for 55 years. He continued his career with American Monument in Fort Lee for another 20 years from 1995 until 2015. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army.
He was the husband of Margaret (neé Fortie); father of Thomas and his wife, Anna; Anita Maslanek and her husband, Paul; grandfather of five; and brother to seven siblings.

NEW MILFORD, N.J. – Francis “Barney” Verdicchio, 98, of New Milford, died Friday, Oct. 16.
Born and raised in New York City, he had been a resident of New Milford since 1972. He served oversees in the U.S. Army during World War II. During his service to his country, he often would entertain the troops with his comedy and appear on the Major Bowes Radio Show doing impersonations.
He was a self-employed cab driver in New York City, and owned his own medallion for more than 30 years. He was a member of the New Milford-Teaneck Elks.
