Sally’s Apizza, the iconic New Haven restaurant and bar founded by Salvatore “Sally” Consiglio in 1938, is expanding.
The restaurant announced a new shop will open in Hartford County in Wethersfield on Thursday, Aug. 29.
Located on the ground level of a residential complex, The Borden at 1178 Silas Deane Highway, Sally’s Apizza in Wethersfield marks the first of four Hartford area locations, including Farmington, Newington, and South Windsor.

Poughkeepsie Receives $894K From State To Rebuild Aging Garden Street Bridge
Thanks to $894,000 in state funding, an aging bridge in the region used for commuting, biking, and walking, will soon be replaced with a new structure.
According to City of Poughkeepsie Mayor Yvonne Flowers, the city has received $894,000 from the state to assist in replacing the Garden Street Bridge over the Fallkill Creek, a project that is expected to begin next spring.

Bergen County Man, 31, Drowns In NY Lake During Family Outing
A man on an outing with his family at Harriman State Park drowned after jumping into the lake and swimming about 100 feet away.
The incident occurred in Rockland County around 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 18, at Lake Sebago in Stony Point.
According to Trooper Steven Nevel with the New York State Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that Carlos G. Gomez Tay, age 31, from Palisades Park, New Jersey, was with his family at the lake and went swimming.
Tay swam about 100 feet away from his family and started calling for help, Nevel said.
