At around 6:13 a.m., July 22, police were alerted to a motor vehicle accident involving a Fryer Engineering of Westborough dump truck and a 63-year-old man at the intersection Charlton Street Old Howarth Road, said Oxford Police Chief Anthony Saad. New Mental Health Hospital Coming To Pioneer Valley Baystate Health and Kindred Behavioral Health are teaming up to launch a 120-bed, $43 million mental health hospital, possibly in Holyoke. Springfield-based Baystate is eyeing the former home of the Holyoke Geriatric Authority on Lower Westfield Road as the possible site for the standalone behavioral health hospital, according to MassLive. The new hospital would employ 220 people and have a pediatric unit - a rarity for Massachusetts. Baystate will pay for $5 million of the construction with Kindred picking up the rest. New Haven Man With Seven Warrants Out For His Arrest Apprehended In Milford Milford Police have arrested a New Haven man with a whopping seven outstanding warrants out for his arrest. Clinton Edwards, 49, New Haven, was arrested on July 21, while police were investigating the report of a stolen vehicle, police said. Among other things, Edwards is accused of skipping out on scheduled court appearances five times in 2020. Edwards is being charged with possession of a stolen license plate, two counts of larceny, two counts of conspiracy to commit larceny, and five counts of failure to appear, police said. Covid-19: New Shrewsbury Police Chief Tests Positive On the first day of his new job as Shrewsbury Chief of Police, Kevin E. Anderson has tested positive for COVID-19. Anderson, a 26-year-veteran of the town’s police department, was sworn in as chief July 20 - outside of the police department - just hours after he learned of the infection, according to the Worcester Telegram and Gazette. Anderson said he is not sure how he contracted the virus. The chief will likely not return to work for the rest of the week. Health officials have advised him to get re-tested on Monday, July 27.
