Four Diners Used Movie Money To Pay For Meal: Gloucester Twp PD Four suspects are at large after they paid for a meal at a restaurant in Sicklerville using phony movie money, authorities said on Tuesday, July 1. Dead Whale Washes Up In Long Beach: Marine Mammal Stranding Center A deceased whale washed ashore in Long Beach Township on Friday, June 27, authorities said. At 7 a.m., the Marine Mammal Stranding Center said it responded to report of a large, deceased whale in the process of washing ashore at 130th Street at Beach Haven Terrace in Long Beach Township. With the assistance of the Long Beach Township Department of Public Works, the heavily decomposed whale was secured and transported to the Department of Public Works yard to be examined by MMSC staff, the MMSC said. Irvington Football Player Killed In Newark Shooting Ziyad Cook, a 16-year-old Irvington resident who played football for Irvington High School, was fatally shot in Newark on Thursday, June 26, according to reports. At 6 p.m., Newark police responded to 227 Brookdale Avenue after Ziyad Cook and a 17-year-old were shot, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. Cook was pronounced dead hours later at University Hospital, authorities said. The condition of the 17-year-old is unknown. Landscaper Impaled By Tree in Summit: Authorities A landscaper was impaled by a tree in Summit on Friday, June 27, authorities said. The landscaper fell while trimming trees and bushes and a tree branch impaled his neck, causing significant injury, a spokesperson for the City of Summit said. He was rushed to Morristown Medical Center and is in critical but serious condition, authorities said. His identity has not been released, and it is unknown where in Summit the incident occurred.

Driver Hospitalized After Vehicle Overturns In Fiery Crash: Morganville FD A person was hospitalized after their vehicle overturned in Morganville on Saturday, June 28, authorities said. Truck Crashes Into Wires, Causing Power Outage In Fairfield A truck crashed into wires, causing dozens of businesses to be without power in Fairfield on Monday, June 30, authorities said.
