Red Cross Announces November Blood Drives In Mamaroneck
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The American Red Cross will hold blood drives throughout November in Westchester County. Mamaroneck Public Library (136 Prospect Ave.) will host a blood drive on Nov. 4 from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Another blood donation opportunity will take place at New Rochelle's Empire Harley Davidson (8 Industrial Ln.) on Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. In Pleasantville, Pace University (861 Bedford Rd.) will hold a drive on Nov. 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. According to the Red Cross, donations decrease from Thanksgiving to New Year's Day, resulting in less blood availabl…

Ridgewood Film Festival Screens 'Very Semi-Serious'
RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- The Reel Voices Film Festival will screen "Very Semi-Serious" with speaker Emily Flake Friday at the Ridgewood Public Library. Flake is a cartoonist for The New Yorker and will participate in a Q&A following the screening. "Very Semi-Serious" is a documentary about the iconic New Yorker cartoon panels. Tackles For A Cure in Yorktown Raises $20,000
YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- The Lakeland Central School District and the Shrub Oak Athletic Club joined together to raise a combined total of $20,000 for breast cancer research during a Tackles for a Cure game on Oct. 2. “It was a true community event, and the district should be proud of the collaboration that the schools provided,” said Beth O’Neill one of the Tackles for a Cure organizers along with Lisa Souza. “The awful weather did not keep our fans away. Bridgeport Police Warn Public Of Burglary Suspect At-Large After Escape
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The Bridgeport Police Department has issued a warning to the public that a burglary suspect is at-large after escaping from police custody. Nelson Vega, 29, of Stratford was arrested and booked on charges in a non-violent burglary on Tuesday. Vega escaped police custody at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday while being transferred from the Bridgeport Police Department to the Golden Hill Street courthouse in Bridgeport for arraignment, police said. The Bridgeport Police are asking that anyone with knowledge on Vega's whereabouts call the Detective Bureau at 203-581-5201.

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- The Woman's Club of Ridgewood will have a house tour Thursday to benefit 21 local women's charities.
