Employee Accused Of Forging Bids In Fairfield County, Police Say
An employee has been arrested for allegedly changing bids at a parks and recreation department in Fairfield County. William Howard turned himself in to police on Thursday, Feb. 25, and charged with 32 counts of forgery following a three-month investigation into irregularities regarding vendor bids in Norwalk, authorities said. Howard was a seasonal employee with the City of Norwalk with no access to city accounts or funds, said Norwalk PD Lt. Joe Dinho. The bids in question date back to at least 2007. UPDATE: A department head who was fired from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office picked the wrong guys when he tried bribing one former and one current North Jersey mayor, according to a published report. A former treasurer with a Westchester fire department has admitted to using thousands of federal dollars he oversaw for his own benefit. BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A former employee of the Department of Motor Vehicles office in Bridgeport was arrested after police said she stole $79,000 while working for the DMV by exploiting a loop hole.
