A beloved Long Island teacher who spent nearly 25 years shaping young minds died just weeks after her brother. Laurette LaPrarie, a fourth grade teacher at Ridge Elementary School, died Sunday, March 23, at the age of 56, according to her obituary. A cause of death was not given. Police have announced an arrest in the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old man at a Long Island apartment complex. Antwane Lee, 31, of Bay Shore, has been charged with second-degree murder in the Sunday, March 30 incident that left Justin Evans dead at the apartments on Pondview Drive in East Patchogue, Suffolk County police said.
